Frequently Asked Questions
What is the session fee / retainer used for?
The session fee is the non-refundable fee due at the time of booking a session which is deducted from the total cost of your chosen package. For example, if the client books a $500 package and pays a $200 session fee, the remaining balance due on or before the day of the shoot would be $300. Essentially, the session fee acts as a retainer to hold the time of your shoot and is used as a credit on your account towards your session package.
What image rights do I have as the client?
The simple answer is that both the photographer and the client have long-term image rights when the client purchases image licenses. The photographer retains the copyright of all images created and grants the client with an unlimited but non-exclusive right to use the photographs in the digital media and for prints, for which the client pays.
What should I wear for the photo shoot?
Great question! There are tons of things to think about on your photo shoot and choosing what to wear can sometimes be overwhelming! I have created a “What to Wear” section on the ‘Helpful Info’ page to get you started! I always tell my clients that as long as they feel good in what they’re wearing, that’s when we’ll get great photos. When I had my senior photos taken, I threw in an extra shirt that I always wore at school (although my mom didn’t like it very much) and it ended up being one of my favorite photos because I looked the most like me. Typically, the best practices for dressing for a photo shoot are not to wear anything baggy, to ditch the hairbands on your wrists and to bring lots of layers for a quick and easy way to change up your outfits!
What is your policy on retouching?
As always, retouching is included for all portrait sessions. Please note that retouching will be done to satisfy the photographer’s artistic opinion. If you have any special requests regarding freckles or moles on your face that you wish to have unaltered, please let me know before the editing process starts! Any additional requested retouching services will be happily completed at an additional charge.
How do I share images on social media?
For purposes of sharing your photos on social media, I will publish your final session images with my logo as web files on Facebook from the ‘Speak Photography Official’ page which can be shared from Facebook and saved. Social media marketing is the most effective way I generate new clients, so as a small business owner I really appreciate it when clients tag my Facebook page or include a link to my website when sharing their photos! The digital image USB wafer contains higher-resolution files and is intended exclusively for the client’s personal print reproduction.
